The Fastpitch Softball
League ACT, in conjunction with the Australian Softball Federation and Softball
ACT, is again conducting Australia's most challenging Skins Tournament: the
Canberra Skins, at the Hawker International Softball Complex in Canberra
commencing Friday 5th December through Sunday afternoon 7th
December 2008.
Skins Format
The 2008 Skins will cater for (7) x A Grade teams and
(7) x B Grade teams. Each team will play six games in the Round Robin
competition. The Finals will be contested as follows:
A Grade: The two highest money-earning teams will
contest the Grand Final. Should the moneys be even, then the team with the
least number of runs against will finish higher on the ladder.
B Grade: The two teams with the most points will
contest the finals. Should the points be even, then the team with the least
number of runs against will finish higher on the ladder.

President Fastpitch Softball
League
The ‘Canberra Skins Tournament’ in one form or another has been running for 20 consecutive years.
Thanks to the Volunteers of Men’s Fastpitch Softball league, with the support from Softball Australia & Softball ACT this prestigious Tournament continues to bring together the Elite Softball players from all around Australia.
I wish all players vying for selection in the Australian Mens Team the best of luck. The skins not only feature our own local talent but some of the best softballers from around Australia. The skins will showcase some of the best softball in Australia.
It is also very pleasing to watch the progression of so many young players from the grass roots level of the sport participating in the ‘B’ Grade division of our Tournament.
I welcome many of the best interstate ‘Umpires’ coming to Canberra teamed up with our own ‘ACT Umpires’ which adds to the highest standards at this unique event.
I personally welcome all players, selectors, officials, volunteers and softball fans who have come to watch the only event of this kind in Australia which is a result of the dedication and pride of many.
This Tournament would not exist if was not for our Sponsors. They are noted throughout this Official Program. Please feel free to support those that support us.
Yours in Softball
Geoff Tutt

Softball ACT Presidents Welcome
On behalf of the Board of Softball ACT, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all participants, players, officials and spectators, to the 2008 ActewAGL Canberra Skins. It is a pleasure to welcome you to Canberra and in particular to the Hawker International Softball Centre.
I hope that the tournament will be conducted in a competitive but friendly spirit and that at the end of the week you will have enjoyed our hospitality, your stay in Canberra and have many happy memories to take home.
The ActewAGL Canberra Skins not only features our own local talent but some of the best male softball players from around the country and overseas. A special welcome is extended to all players and officials vying for selection in the Australian Open Men’s Team. With positions in the Australian team up for grabs during the ActewAGL Canberra Skins there is no doubt we will be entertained by some high quality softball over the weekend.
A special thanks to Geoff Tutt, President of the Fastpitch Softball League ACT and Bob Harrow, Australian Open Men’s Coach for their efforts in organising this tournament.
A vote of thanks must also be made to the many volunteers who make this busy weekend happen and ensure the tournament is run smoothly. Without the help of our scorers, umpires, grounds people and volunteers we would not be able to host such events.
Good luck to all teams participating in the ActewAGL Canberra Skins as we look forward to seeing some great softball from some of the best softball players in the world.
